 Alexia Walker joins Leicestershire

May 15
2006

Former England Women's player Alexia Walker has been appointed by Leicestershire County  Cricket Club in a role which will focus on the use of the Video Data Capture project that has been  introduced into county cricket this season.

In addition to working with the squad analysing their games, Walker will also look at other  opportunities of using the footage in terms of highlights packages on the club's website and  assisting with the development of new coaching methods at all levels in the county.

23-year-old Walker who is a Level Three qualified ECB coach has two degrees in Sports and  Leisure Management from Loughborough University and has also worked alongside Graham Dilley at  The National Cricket Centre, all the while honing her skills as coach / analyst.

Walker said: "In my capacity as assistant to Graham Dilley I have been concentrating on  performance analysis, packaging up data from net sessions to give to players to take away with  them.

"This is an exciting opportunity for me to further my career because Tim knows the system so well  and knows its capabilities. There is so much that we can do with the footage we are capturing and  it is going to be my responsibility to ensure we maximise those opportunities.

"For the players, it's about pulling off relevant clips and packaging them up so that they can look  at a particular aspect of their game. That may be Stuart Broad asking to look at the wickets he has  taken so far this season or Darren Maddy looking at how he dealt with a certain bowler. We can  tailor them to their specific requirements.

"We are currently looking into putting the highlights of a day's play on the Club's website and I  am sure that we could produce DVDs that would be of great value to local clubs and schools."

Walker plays her cricket for current Liverpool Victoria County Champions, Sussex and in the Super  Fours, a competition from which the England Women's Team is selected.  She played in the  England Development Squad in 2004 during New Zealand's tour of England and toured Australia  with England U19s in 2002.
