  • Promoted Captain of England from Vice Captain during the 1999-2000 Winter Tour to Australia and New Zealand. 

  • Left arm off spin bowler and right hand bat. 

  • Opened the batting for her County side and for England U-21 for four years. 

  • Made her England Debut in the 1995 European Cup against Denmark, making her Test Debut later that year against India. 

  • She helped England U-21 to win the 1996 European U-23 Cup, played in the 1997 World Cup.

  • Is one of only five players to take a hat-trick in One-Day Internationals, one of the three wickets being an amazing catch by Lucy Pearson. It occurred during a televised game at Northampton against India in 1999.

  • Led Sussex to top of Division 2 in the County Championships 2001 and thus promotion to Division 1.

  • Until recently she taught English and PE at her old school, Brighton College, whose team reached the finals of the Indoor Sixes (2001).

  • Captained Sussex to their first County Championship win in 2003, and subsequent championships in 2004 and 2005.

  • Retired from international cricket in 2006.

  • Clare works extensively in the cricket media and joinied Channel 4's award winning team in the summer of 2003 which includes presenting on the Channel 4 cricket show. She also commentated on Test Match Special. Clare writes regular columns for 'The Wisden Cricketer' and 'The Observer'

  • Retired from captaincy of England following Ashes series win in 2005
  • Plays for Lashings for whom she was leading wicket taker in the 2006 season
  • Returned to teaching at Brighton College and took on responsibility for PR 2006
