Sky Cricket Coach of the Year 2008

Each Year Sky Sports sponsor a Coaches Award scheme. Counties are asked to decide on a coach involved in recreational cricket each year who deserves the following awards:
1) Outstanding Contribution and Services to Cricket Coaching
2) Outstanding Coaching Achievement
3) Young Coach of the Year

The Sussex Winners for 2008 were
1) Mervyn Jones, who is treasurer of the Coaches Association, massively involved at Chiddingly CC and is our main Coach Tutor / Assessor
2) Charlotte Burton
3) Adam Maharaj-Newman, who coaches at Hastings and for the East Area.

All three are very deserving winners in Sussex and were invited to the ODI at the Oval yesterday to be wined and dined and in the interval the regional winners (London and East region) were announced and received a presentation from Nasser Hussain.

I am delighted to report that Sussex had two regional winners in Mervyn Jones and our very own Charlotte Burton. They went to the National Awards in the Long Room at Lords in September.

Charlotte is very deserving of this award having worked incredibly hard to develop women and girls cricket in the county and achieving an amazing amount of success. At Lord's Charlotte gained the national Award!

Well done Charlotte!
